Dalmatians are born predominantly white. Their spots appear and darken as they get older. The spotting pattern begins to show up clearly around 2-4 weeks old. For long coat puppies, it can take a few extra weeks for the spotting pattern to make it's grand appearance through all the fluff!

Dalmatians spotting colors are typically black or liver (brown) in color. Lemon, brindle and Tri colored spotting is now becoming quite popular and more common as well.

Around 4 to 6 weeks old you begin to see spotting patterns fairly clearly.this puppy had a very thick coat so the pattern was only visible when wet the puppy down.
